STOP!!! DON'T THROW THAT HOSE AWAY!!!

  • Don't throw your old hose away, you can make it into a soaker hose for your gardens, seedlings, shrubs and etc.  Take an ice pick and poke holes between 2 and 4 inches apart. Once this is down, you can wrap it around the trees, or lay it out in your garden, and/or wrapping it around your shrubs. Submitted By: Author Unknown

  • An easy way to fill buckets up with water when you are outside is by attaching your old hose to the faucet and cutting it approximately 2 feet from the faucet.   Now instead of  having to unroll your good hose, or untangling it, you have an extended nozzle. Submitted By: Author Unknown

  • Instead of paying money for a tree-staking kit, cut your old hose into 12 inch lengths, or longer, depending on the size of the tree you want to stake up.   Run a piece of wire through the hose and then tie your home-made tree stake around the tree.  Loosen as needed when the tree grows. This will protect your tree from getting cut.  If you have ever seen a tree-kit, you will find that you are paying for wire, old pieces of hoses, and stakes. Submitted By: Arthur

  • Home made pallet..  Cut your hose into as even length as you can.   Use duct tape to tape them together. Now you can put those boxes you wanted to keep dry off the floor by using your home made pallet. Submitted By: Author Unknown

  • Working in the yard can be very rough on a person's back. To avoid having pulled muscles and strains of the back, Make sure your gardening equipment is the right size for you to use.  If you use a short handled rake, you will most likely regret it the next day.  Choose hoes, rakes, and shovels that are at least as tall as your shoulder. • To ripen enough tomatoes all at the same time for making pasta sauces, take your GREEN tomatoes and wrap them in newspaper, and then layering them gently in a box (preferred) or in a brown grocery bag.  Be sure to check them approximately 7 days later.  You will have to unwrap one or two of them  and check them from the top, middle and bottom of your storing container.  If you forget them, they will rot. • Like your tomatoes a little hot and spicy?  Plant a Hot pepper plant close to your tomatoes.  Author Unknown

  • Carrots are a difficult veggie to plant for some people.  They take a very long time to  come up and look like weeds in the beginning.  To keep from digging them up, plant radishes (in-between the carrot plants. ) radishes grow quickly so when they are ready to be picked, the ground around your carrots will loosen and give them more room.
