I have no
doubt that I am not alone in having to live on a water budget and
finding out I have Champagne taste. Everyone has daily
problems that they have to solve. When you are on a water budget,
taking your shirts to the cleaners because your kids shared their
chocolate with you just isn't an option.
My mother is 87 years old and from what I can tell, she has been collecting "sayings" , tips, tricks to "making do when you are having to do without" She never goes anywhere without her little pocket note pad. If she see's a sign, a newspaper article, almost anything that catches her eyes; from one-liners to a full page poem or joke...she writes it down. What I have here is just the "tip" of the ice berg. I would not be surprised if she had a thousand different tidbits.
Last year we went on vacation and after the first couple of days I found myself jotting something down in my little book.. (When I was little and in my teens when I knew everything; I remember telling her that it was a dumb thing to do.. What was the use in it?) Telling her that back then was just as smart as asking her "how come the older I get the smarter you get?" |
What would you do if
you didn't have very much money and the kids or grandkids wanted to go
somewhere or "do something different"?
