A Little Of This
A Little Of That

SMELLY REFRIGERATORS:  Open a box of baking soda and place on shelf in corner and it will take out most odors. Replace every 1-2 months

AIR FRESHENER: Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of  REGULAR VINEGAR . This will cause  foam in your container. Once the foamy stuff stops,  mix it well and put into a spray bottle. Instead of buying air freshener, spray your homemade air freshener. It will work well.

WINDOW CLEANER:  Use 1 cup of  REGULAR VINEGAR and and 1 quart of water. It works well and does not have any chemicals to cause any harm.

LAUNDRY ANTI-STATIC CLING: Some people will use it like you would if it was regular fabric softener, however, I use a little less cause I find if you get too much, when you sweat it will smell slightly of vinegar.

BORAX SOAP: Cost less  to use than other store bought cleaners because it can be used for many different things.  Therefore, if you are on a budget, it will be the best buy.

TOILET BOWLS AND SINKS: Use REGULAR VINEGAR and leave it to soak for about 10-15 minutes. The built up lime scale can  be scrubbed off easier and takes less time.

SPOT REMOVER CARPETS: Use equal parts of   water and vinegar to take pet odors out of carpets. You may have to make it a little stronger in the actual spots.

BAKING SODA  has also been referred to as BICARBONATE OF SODA, usually grandma's refer it to this and along with others.

BATHTUBS: If you have an extra can of coke, pour it in the tub and let stand for just a short while, it will make getting the stains out easier. There are many other uses for coke other than just drinking it...!!!

TOOTHPASTE WILL CLEAN SILVER AND GOLD: You can use REGULAR TOOTHPASTE  and a soft cloth to make silver and gold shiny clean.

STAINS IN POTS  AND PANS  Boil baking soda and water may take 15 to 30 minutes depending on the stain, may want to start with couple of teaspoons and if it isn't enough, you can add more.. Don't use a whole box because you will need the baking soda for other things.

DRAIN CLEANER/OPENER: Use a couple teaspoons of baking soda and put it in the drain, next pour in about 1 cup REGULAR VINEGAR. You will need to cover the drain after putting these items in the drain.

BATHTUBS:  Mix borax soap with hot water to form a paste, then spread over tub, leave for about 15 minutes then you should be able to lightly scrub it and all should come out white.

WINDOWS/GLASS: Use an old newspaper (not comics) instead of paper towels.

GENERAL AIR FRESHENER: Set a container or small bowl of vinegar throughout the house to absorb unpleasant odors.  Be sure to put them where your pets can not reach it.

REMOVE TARNISHED COPPER: On heavily tarnished copper or copper-alloy pots and pot bottoms, use a paste made of salt and vinegar.

WASHING DISHES: You can use REGULAR VINEGAR mixed with hot water to rinse off the dishes and then towel dry them. (can use paper towels but this could get expensive). This will allow them to dry sparkling clean. No spots.

MAKE YOUR OWN POLISHING CLOTHS:  Recently I had washed my tee-shirt material sheets. Something caught in there and cause them to tear so I cut them up into fairly good size squares and use them for anything that requires very soft material when cleaning.  I also had one of my flannel sheets get torn up, or rather, worn out would be the actual problem. I also cut it up to use as a polishing cloth.  I found it works great for polishing the car.

MEASURE NOT POUR: When I got in a hurry, I would pour my liquids into the water for washing dishes, floors, walls, and etc. Needless to say, I used much more than was needed and ran out quickly.  Always measure by either using tablespoons, teaspoons or the cap of the bottle.

CLEAN YOUR COFFEE POT OR THERMOS: Need to clean a thermos or coffee pot try using baking soda or baking soda toothpaste. 1/2 tsp. scrub and rinse well, leaves no after taste and there's no harmful chemicals to worry about. Submitted by David.
